Stress Fracture
A stress fracture, also known as micro fractures, are small cracks in the bone that are caused through repetitive force. Well known in new recruits passing through military training, stress fractures can occur from overloading bones with repetitive activities without adequate recovery time or nutrition. Being overweight, recently starting running, overtraining or not wearing cushioning footwear can all predispose to stress fractures.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Specific pain in the area
Very tender and sore when touching
Swelling
Pain when moving, or starting a physical activity
Pain increases with further use during exercise
Limping
