Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis. It is commonly known as degenerative joint disease, or referred to as “wear and tear”. However, this does not accurately reflect what is happening – as the joint is loaded in ways the tissues do not tolerate, be it excess load, repetition or abnormal movement in the joint, there is breakdown in slippy cartilage on the joint surfaces, the production of healthy synovial fluid around the joint and the bony structure of the joint. This changes how smoothly the joint hinges, producing further irritation and dysfunction
